Steve Langley Cup - SAL go down in 5-goal thriller
The Amateur Football Combination came back from 0-2 down to win the Steve Langley Cup at Dulwich Hamlet on Wednesday 18 November. The SAL - including the Vampires' very own Jack Lawrence - have won the cup for the last 4 years but, with the NLS Cup trip to Guernsey the following Saturday, were unable to field a full strength side and paid the price in a competetive game.
The Cup is played in memory of former Vampire and SAL captain Steve Langley who died, aged 42, in 2002 from lung cancer. The week was a disappointing one for the League side who subsequently succumbed 2-3 to the Guernsey Senior County League in St Sampson's, Guernsey to end their defence of the trophy they won in May 2008.

Sponsorship opportunity for 2009-2010
The club is actively looking for sponsors to help pay for the production of the handbook which will be issued to all club members for 2009-2010.
The handbook will contain 20 pages (including front and back covers) and will be printed in black and white inside, with the covers being in colour. It will measure approximately 7.5 x 10cm (3 x 4.25in) with three pages reserved for advertising - the inside front and inside back covers, and the back cover.
The back cover space has been taken by a local plumber (for whom the pay off has been instant as the club is looking for work to be done on its showers!) while the remaining spaces are still available. The fee for these is negotiable, but will be in the region of £50 for the season.
The handbook will be distributed to around 200 club members in the first instance, although we intend to print 300+ copies in anticipation of added demand due to the coming merger with Muswell Hill (Youth) F.C.
A deadline of 1 August 2009 has been set for receiving advertising as we will need to begin printing the booklet. However, if you miss the deadline we may still be able to offer the sponsorship of club membership cards for those not produced by that date.
Please contact Greg Dearle or Andy Copeland to discuss this matter further.

Membership 2009-2010
As agreed at the AGM the fees for the coming season will remain unchanged at £40 for senior membership (rising to £50 after end of September) and £10.00 for juniors while a new membership band has been introduced. Gold membership costs £200 for the season but includes your annual subscription AND match fees for the whole season. The bonus for the club is that it gets some much needed cash up front while anyone choosing this option gets a few games free of charge (depending on how many you play of course).
Another new innovation for the coming season is membership cards (pictured) and handbooks which each player will receive upon full payment of their membership. The card will show which level of membership a player holds and must be produced each week to show where a concession is applicable (such as for gold or junior membership).

Club Committee 2009-2010
The AGM was held at the club on Saturday (4 July) with good show of around 40 members all there to discuss the issues of the day and to elect (or not!) club officials for the coming season. The committee itself was continuing as it did for 2008-09 with the addition of one important new role - that of Kit Manager. John Roberts has taken on this role which is intended to keep the club kit in order and make sure we are always perfectly turned out! In addition to this, Ricky Huckle has taken on the task of organising club merchandise so that members can look the part on and off the field.
On another note, two new life-vice presidents were elected. Ina Singh and Peter Ephgrave were rewarded for their many years of hard work for the club and their names will be added to that immortal list (at the top of this page!).
