Saturday 20 October 2018 Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP SAL Junior Division 3 North Match Report from Martin Bradley On a sunny Saturday in late October a trip to donkey lane to play Winchmore Hill and with possibly our strongest 14 so far this season. We got off to a flying start with a pin point corner by Kalashy withBuli finishing it off after 2 minutes, we carried on the half with great football and great chances with all our pressure culminating in a lovely run and finish by Knighty taking on 2 men and finding the top bin, the half finished with a awful miss by Matty Breen even with a great call of "first time". The second half started with us playing our most fluent football all season from our attack and solid at the back with Coleman and De Mel winning MOM, with the Vamps 3rd goal from Knighty we were cruising, then a mini blip with us switching off and letting a goal in and then one of our own stropping off the pitch and having a hissy fit but we dealt with it like true vamps when Mr Breen atoned for his miss earlier with a sublime curling looping shot from 20 yards out. Saturday 20 October 2018 Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP SAL Junior Division 1 North Match Report from Daniel Dawson Turned up Saturday coming off the back of our first loss this season. Every team is expected to lose but it was the fashion we lost in which was unacceptable. So bouncing back was vital. Nobody wants to lose 2 on the trot. We got a few players back from the previous week but still missing a couple of key players. So our squad had to step up. Regardless of league position Garchonians is always going to be a battle. We started well in patches and looked solid at the back, went ahead early due to great work down the right from Bryant to put the ball across the box for the top scorer Haynes to fire into the net from close range. You’d think we would steam on from there but quite the opposite. The remainder of the game was pretty much defence vs attack with us not creating much at all but at the same time Garch’s not having many clear cut chances. It wasn’t until the 85th minute as the oppo threw everything forward that a stray through ball on the counter was met by man like Fraggle who rounded the keeper and gave us the cushion we was dying for. Then a minute later It was harty dj that beat the offside trap to catch a sweet half volley and secure the game. 30 seconds left!!! Clean sheet surely? Don’t be silly. They lumped forward for one last attack and after a frenzy in the box they fired a consolation into the net. A win is a win but if we want to be lifting the cup end of the season we need to be realistic that those performances simply ain’t good enough. Next week onto the cup for our first south London trip against Alleyn! Let’s be avin ya! COYVS! This is the 6s third league game we are currently 6th in league and if other results go our way today we can jump up to 3rd, also we are looking for back to back victories. Vamps kick off the game and we start off strong attacking high up the pitch to win a corner. Ryan Horswell takes the the ball goes to Sean Warner at the back post and he heads in back across to matt who heads it in for 1-0. AP try to attack us but Elliot Jackson tackles the AP player and plays a ball into Warner, then Warner plays Matt Castignetti through one on one with the keeper and puts it away for 2-0. AP kick off again and we have tackled them early and we are passing it around but we loss the ball and the AP player has taken a early shot that caught Toby Thurlow by surprise to make it 2-1. Vamps kick the game off and but now AP was attacking us and they pick up a corner and with not communication from it we conceded for the second time in the game to make it 2-2, but we didn't keep it like that for long with half time coming up Warner runs through and lay the ball for Horswell to strike first time for 3-2. 3-2HT BRILLIANT HALF At this point the Vamps knew we have to do better we wasn't happy with how we was playing at half time so we went out there and to win the ball back straight to get the next goal, Terry wins the ball back then plays a wonderful long ball over too for Castignetti to get onto to put away his hat-trick.We didn't finish it there as all momentum we with us we kept the pressure up and Horswell picks up the ball and playsWarner through to return the favour from the second half and he puts it away for his first goal of the season. At this point AP have given up so we toke advantage to get more goal and it wasn't long till we made it 6-2 Jamie Swainston brilliant pressure on goalkeeper for Warner to tap in a open goal. Coming up to the last 5mins of the game Connor Eldrett and Horswell work the ball down the Right side andHorswell plays the ball across goal for Castignetti to get his 4th and the Vamps 7th to make it 7-2 the full time whistle went after that and we can all say we are all happy with the result and how the team are playing. Saturday 20 October 2018 Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP SAL Senior Division 3 Match Report from Sam Connor A warm summer afternoon greeted the return to league football for a vamps team looking to get back to victorious ways after feeling unfortunate to go out of the cup the weekend before. Returns to the team for Adam “the doctor” Mitchell, Omar Karmali, Luke Fitzgerald, Sam Lawrence, and Samir Aalit on the bench after an injury layoff. Having recently made the long journey down to South London to face The Warren, we knew the trek they had just faced, and looked to exploit that with crossfield balls to find Omar speeding past their full back with ease. However, The Warren clearly had their Weetabix for breakfast, and continued to close down quickly, making it difficult to keep play flowing with a number of niggly fouls that distracted us from our game. Junior Bushiri, looking to make up for the blank the previous game was looking dangerous with the ball at his feet, and looked like he wanted to up his dribble stats, at one point sending a defender face planting into the grass like he’d spotted something good to eat. It was through this that the first goal came, as he was sent through and skipped past a couple of players on the six yard box. The whole pitch thought the cut back was the only option, including their keeper, but instead the ball was slid in the near post to see us 1-0 up. We knew we weren’t playing at our best, and as the classic Saturday league calls of “we haven’t started playing yet have we” rang out, we wanted to start taking control of the game for the first time. However, the Warren had clearly not come all this way to roll over, and still looked dangerous on the break. The equaliser came as we looked comfortable in possession. The ball was knocked back to Amit Gagliani, and as the pass was sprayed out to the waiting left, it looked like the ball clearly came off the outstretched arms of their winger. However, the ref deemed it accidental and let the game play on as their winger rolled it in to an empty net. As we moved in to the second half we knew that we had to play our normal game, and be confident that the goal would come, hoping that The Warren would tire and the spaces would open up. However, chances were hard to come by, and with more opportunities coming through set pieces a returning Samir Aalit was sent on up front to provide a focal point, replacing Omar, who hadn’t been following his fitness regime of morning sprints up the Copacabana. This changed the game, giving their defenders something new to deal with and opening up space around the box. Ali Manoli found a pocket, lifted a ball to the back post, and it was that man Aalit on hand to bundle the ball in for the perfect return to action. Finally a sigh of relief, as we looked to close the game out back ahead and the chances started to flow. First Karmali, back on the pitch, put the ball straight at the keeper after it was centred from Aalit , then finally the icing on the cake. Junior Bushiri found that sweet spot in between CB and left full back, was slid through by Ali Manoli, and after one touch rolled the ball calmly into the bottom corner. 3-1 and game over. With other teams in cup action, it was a chance to put some distance ahead of us and Old Stationers in second. We need to keep taking on every game one at a time, with the same commitment and energy. Next week sees us travel to Hackney to face our next opponent Cambridge Heath, and continue our league momentum. Saturday 13 October 2018 Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP SAL Junior Division 4 North Match Report from Mark Ephgrave Another week another match report, the 5s do it again---The hard way! This time around though it was a match of ups, downs, ifs, buts and maybes. If only we had started with 11 men, Maybe more than a couple of decisions went our way but the mad 5 minutes before half time when we didn’t know how to kick a ball on the pitch off the pitch to a team mate. But having said that the final result was and did feel like a win but it could have been a whole lot different. Tansley were on the front foot from off they went for the jugular trying to push home the downhill and man less advantage but to be fair to the lads we battled we pushed them as hard as they pushed us. Tansley took the lead and to be fair it was a scrappy goal but a goal it was, after that 11v11 was restored and vamps started to play some good football and the equalizer was a joy to watch-Game on. Sometimes you look at the score line and you put your hands up and go ok fair enough we deserve that but not this time the only thing we deserved was the way we let them take a half time lead of 4-1 the 5s shouldn’t look like they are playing walking or blind football but half time couldn’t come quick enough. At half time the rally call was your vamps don’t let yourself or the club down show your vamps spirit and you will get the result we want but your going to have to earn it And earn it they did it was a great second half performance and if it weren’t for a couple of blatant shoves, late challenges and a sin bin that seemed to last for ever we could have had the three points in the bag. I cannot take away from the lads the effort they put in and maybe on another day it could have been different. Sometimes you have to stand up and be counted this game proved that we can do that but you have to have the vamps spirit to do that. Unlucky lads but on to next week’s game COYV. Sunday 14 October 2018 Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP SAL Veterans League Match Report from Cory Sunderland Was a hard fought game against Globe Rangers, they scored early against the run of play and then after a lovely ball from midfield Matt Friskey lobbed the keeper from just outside the box (he admitted after the game it was a miss hit). Just before half time Dave Price delivered a lovely ball to Matt Friskey who cushion headed the ball to Cory Sunderland to slot home. After half time Globe pulled back an early goal and then about 15 minutes from time scored another, although it did look from the bench that our keeper was taken out by a Globe player. This left us with a mountain to climb, but with seconds to spare Matt Friskey broke free and slotted home to save the draw. Graham Surry (Vets Manager) said 'I asked for maximum effort today, absolutely first class from all of you. When we play like that I am proud to be a Vampire we kept on playing until the end, brilliant lads'. Saturday 13 October 2018 Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP SAL Junior Division 3 North Match Report from Darren McKeon After 5 straight wins we were going into this game confident and started the better side and after a good run down the right by Jason De MelBroomfield panicked and 2 of their side scaved him down in the area. Up stepped Reilly to break the net with the pen - 1-0. It continued with the game being scrappy with the ball moving in the wind and bouncing of shins, knees and ankles and no team stringing more than a couple of passes together which resulted in both sides playing long ball football but with us being comfortable and not troubled. Up stepped Darren to make some subs and keep people fresh and we lost momentum in the game other than a few borderline offside calls against Fleetwood and Knighty, it started to feel like we were getting nothing and after another long ball and Ginge rushing off his line the striker got a touch on it and we were back to 1-1 at half time. We talked a lot about trying to string some passes together but went straight back to long ball and playing pretty poorly and no matter what changes McKeon made it made no difference and soon Broomfield broke down the right which turned into a goal mouth scramble which eventually ended up going in 2-1 with 30 mins to go, the game didn't get much better and we did create 2 decent chances to draw level which weren't taken 1 knight put wide from the rihht of the box and a back post header from ash yet again wide. We go again next lads and go on another winning streak. Deep in thought, manager Darren McKeon and substitute Jason De Mel ponder the situation (left) which quickly deteriorates when Jason Hindi takes himself out with a nasty tackle (right) George Hill, Lee Duarte, Jonathan Hindi, Dan Coleman, Henry Buli, Barry Mackey, Jordan Flynt, Danny Snooks, Jason De Mel, James Reilly ⚽, Anthony Knight, Charlie Fleetwood Nick Dunlop ⚽⚽⚽, Jamie Swainston ⚽⚽, Matt Castignetti ⚽
Saturday 13 October 2018 Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP SAL Junior Division 4 North Match Report from Connor Eldrett this game is a must see, the two sides have played each other already this season and it ended in a disappointing result of the Vamps losing 5-1. We got some new faces in such as Barney and Alex to boost the quality of our defence. EBOG kicked the game off, the vamps were really looking for this win to kick start are season. Within 10mins for the game Nick Dunlop has got us the 1-0 lead with an assist from Ryan Horswell. It didn't end there in 30 mins we was 3-0 up and Dunlop has got his Hat-trick Nick and the team was putting all efforts that we need too to win this game but at half time we conceded are goal just because we didn't keep are concentration for the last 5mins of the first half. 3-1. We have kicked off the second half and we was playing some good football and we was looking for more goals but 15mins have gone in the second half and our player Dunlop has we taken out and went down in some real pain with his ankle we had call 999 for an ambulance which took about an hour to arrive. We carry on with game we moved are nets to the next pitch. All the vamps players showed me and the club that the 6s do mean business and want to win trophies for the club . 5 mins has played from moving pitches and Matt Castignetti has picked up his first Vamps goal , hopefully many to come from him It didn’t take long for his second within 5 mins after his first which made it 5-1. We were looking for more goal but this one wasn't the type of goal you would expect but don't get me wrong it was a beautiful header but a shame it was an own goal by Ryan Horswell to make it 5-2. It was the last 5mins of the game and we are getting the chance to counter against the run of play and Jamie Swainston has come up with the goods and has chipped it past the keeper to make it 6-2 . Full-time was called and I was so proud of my players in this game and with how we keep improving each week, we play better as a team and we bringing our own style of football to the club. Nick Dunlop has a sprain and will be out for a while wishing him a speedy recovery. James Reilly ⚽, Michael Barton ⚽
